I commenced with the Australian Antarctic Division 20+ years ago in the typing pool and have occupied a number of positions since then working part-time, job sharing and full-time. I have successfully job-shared the Executive Assistant position working with Dr Tony Press, full-time as Executive Assistant to the former Program Leader Biology, Dr Harvey Marchant and full-time as Executive Assistant to the General Manager Corporate, Mr Rod Allen. Most recently I worked as Recruitment Officer in Personnel Services for the past three years. For the next two years I will be the Marine Mammal Grants Officer. The role includes:
- Administration of a research grants scheme
- Updating information on the web for the Australian Marine Mammal Centre
- Organising venues, catering and flights and accommodation for the National Marine Mammal Scientific Committee and National Marine Mammal Advisory Committee
- Providing secretariat support and other assistance to research assessment and planning committees
- Liaise and form partnerships with a range of government and non-government stakeholders in the marine mammal science community
- Providing support either as a team member or individually in support of the Australian Marine Mammal Centre
- Preparation of correspondence, updating of databases and administrative support for the Australian Marine Mammal Centre
- Assist Australian Marine Mammal Centre members with general administration matters including travel bookings and financial acquittals
