IWC-related workshops

Each year the International Whaling Commission organises inter-sessional workshops to progress initiatives that require more time than is available during its annual meetings. Often these inter-sessional workshops are highly relevant to Australian conservation and management policies and so Marine Mammal Centre staff attend to represent the Australian Government.

 In 2009 it is likely Marine Mammal Centre staff will attend the following IWC-related workshops and meetings

• JARPN II review workshop, 26 - 30 January 2009
• Southern Hemisphere Humpback whale workshop, 3 - 6 February 2009
• The Future of the International Whaling Commission, March 2009
• Whales and climate change workshop, 21 - 25 February 2009
• Meeting of the Scientific Committee of the IWC, 3 May  - 12 June, 2009
