Chris Galloway - Voyage leader

Chris Galloway is a former naval officer and maritime lawyer with a research interest in the legal regime governing Antarctica and the Southern Ocean. Since leaving full-time service in the RAN in 2008, he has spent 3 ½ years cruising the Pacific with his wife and two teenage daughters in a 41’ yacht.

During his naval service, Chris held command of the national sail training ship Young Endeavour and more recently has served as an operational relief captain in the Armidale Class Patrol Boat fleet in Australia’s north undertaking border protection operations.

Chris has been working in the Australian Antarctic program since 2012 in voyage management roles and is pleased to be an active participant in this research voyage. He has also been selected as a station leader for 2014/5 season.
